We tested it in the Olympic pool in Sharm El Sheikh during several dynamic apnea training sessions using short fins

In freediving, choosing the right wetsuit is about much more than thermal protection. For an athlete, a wetsuit should become a true extension of the body, following every movement without restriction while preserving the best possible connection with the water.
I had the opportunity to test the Salvimar Zeero Thermo Evo Lady 1.5 mm during several training sessions in the Olympic pool in Sharm El Sheikh, using it for dynamic apnea and technical drills with short fins. These conditions proved ideal for evaluating the wetsuit's elasticity, comfort, construction quality, and overall performance during extended training sessions.
First impressions
The first sensation when putting it on is its remarkable lightness. The Yamamoto Smoothly Skin neoprene immediately stands out for its softness and exceptional elasticity. The wetsuit fits the body evenly, without creating pressure points or restricting breathing—an essential feature for freedivers.
One of the qualities I value most in a wetsuit is its ability to leave the chest completely free during breathing and ventilation. In this respect, the Zeero Thermo Evo proved genuinely comfortable, allowing for a natural and relaxed breathing pattern from the very first session.
From an aesthetic perspective, I particularly appreciated the feminine cut. Once worn, it enhances the silhouette without feeling overly compressive, achieving a pleasing balance between functionality and design. It is an elegant, minimalist, and modern wetsuit that conveys careful attention to both performance and style—a detail many female athletes will certainly appreciate.
Putting it on is also easy thanks to the elasticity of the materials and the YKK Superior back zipper, which provides a smooth and reliable closure.
Materials and construction
Salvimar has chosen a medium-density neoprene with excellent elastic memory, a characteristic that is immediately noticeable in use. The U.T. Super Stretch inner lining enhances overall comfort and allows the wetsuit to adapt naturally to the female body, while the Black Coated outer treatment provides increased resistance to abrasion without compromising the material's softness.
The Raw Edge finishes on the wrists and ankles are a simple yet effective solution, improving the seal while helping to reduce water entry without the need for additional reinforcements.
Overall, the build quality reflects careful craftsmanship and attention to detail.
In the water
Once in the water, the Zeero Thermo Evo reveals what I consider to be its greatest strength: freedom of movement. During dynamic apnea sessions and technical training with Salvimar short fins, the wetsuit followed every phase of the finning motion without creating any noticeable tension or resistance. The shoulders remain completely unrestricted, the torso moves naturally, and the technical stroke feels fluid and unimpeded.
This becomes especially important during long hours of training, when maximum efficiency and natural movement are essential.
I also appreciated the level of sensitivity the wetsuit maintains. Its reduced thickness allows for a very direct connection with the water, improving body awareness and enhancing the perception of every movement during training.
At no point does the Zeero Thermo Evo feel like a barrier between the diver and the water. Instead, it behaves like a true second skin, naturally accompanying every movement.
Thermal comfort
The 1.5 mm thickness has been specifically designed for warm-water environments and activities where maximum mobility is the priority. During our sessions in the Olympic pool in Sharm El Sheikh, thermal comfort remained more than adequate, even during longer workouts.
It is clear that this is not a wetsuit intended for cold-water diving, but that is not its purpose.
I believe it is particularly well suited for indoor pool training, summer freediving sessions at sea, and destinations with consistently warm water temperatures, where a thicker wetsuit would simply be unnecessary.
Conclusion
The Salvimar Zeero Thermo Evo Lady 1.5 mm is a wetsuit that clearly prioritizes freedom of movement, comfort, and sensitivity. Throughout the test, I especially appreciated its ability to support every technical movement without interfering with breathing or diminishing the natural feeling of the water.
It is a wetsuit that allows you to focus entirely on your technique and sensations, to the point that you almost forget you are wearing it.
For athletes who train regularly in the pool, freedivers exploring warm waters, or anyone looking for an exceptionally lightweight and comfortable wetsuit, the Zeero Thermo Evo is a highly compelling option. It delivers fluidity, freedom, and a natural in-water feel, qualities that perfectly define its identity.
